We flew in the day before and stayed at the Westin Waterfront, and walked to Black Falcon cruise terminal in the morning. There is also a bus (from the World Trade Center) but the walk isn't too bad, 20 minutes dragging luggage.

We arrived at the cruise terminal right at 11am and dropped off our luggage and went upstairs and through security. They were already giving out tickets for boarding group 23 when we lined up to check in. Everything went quickly and smoothly but the waiting room was already full. There were tables set up for the specialty restaurants and for the spa (where we were able to get stickers on our cards for our pre-paid spa passes). They started calling priority boarding and the first groups around 11:45. We were on board just before 12:30.

We chose this cruise to discover Bermuda, and because we like sea days (and so we could visit Boston and Cape Cod post-cruise). We were satisfied on all counts. The cruise itself was pretty typical for an older and smaller (i.e. pre-Epic) NCL ship. We found the food, entertainment, and activities to be very familiar and of the standard were expecting from previous cruises. Our main complaint about the Dawn is the location of the Spinnaker Lounge. We missed the panoramic views from the top of the ship. Spinnaker on the Dawn doesn't even have windows!

Cabin Review

Obstructed Oceanview

Cabin OK

This is a sideways layout which means there is a bit more space in the middle of the room, but the closet/bathroom area is very cramped and not well lit. The view is obstructed about 70% but you can see the ocean and the promenade deck below. The room is opposite a crew door (some noise on the first day when they were delivering luggage) and right underneath the hallway of deck 9 (kids running down the hall). It is also very close to the atrium, so you can hear the live music from there until 11pm. But it is a very convenient location and we had no noise problems at night.
