My husband and I just returned from our Southern Caribbean cruise. My overall impression of this trip was just average. The ship looked tired and needs a little bit of maintenance to restore it to what one would expect of a Royal Caribbean ship. Let me start with embarkation in San Juan. This was a complete and utter failure. We got to the pier sometime around 3:00 p.m. and joined a line outside of the cruise terminal. We waited there for over an hour before the line even moved. It was hot, we were tired and people were not happy at all. We finally were let inside the terminal where we joined another line and waited there for over an hour there with no air conditioning and finally we get to the desk to be checked in. We got our seapass card and were headed to the ship. We had about 5 minutes to sit down before it was time for muster drill. By that time most people looked like they were ready to pass out from the heat and being crammed together shoulder to shoulder. So far not many people were Wow'd!
We loved the activities on the ship. We went skating, which proved to be a very popular activity. Unfortunately, we were only allowed to skate for 20 minute session to let others skate. We enjoyed the pools especially the Solarium (adult only) pool.
Ports:
The cabin was ok. There was plenty of room in the drawers and closet. The balcony was solid steel with none of those dividers that we had on other ships. The furniture out on the balcony barely fit out there.
The bed was just ok. Not the most comfortable one I have ever slept on. The sheets were frayed. The TV didn't work all that well. It was not to far a walk to the elevators.
We hated the pushy taxi drivers and tour guides and guys with monkeys on their shoulder.
We just went shopping and looking at the sights on our own.
