My wife and I wanted an Alaskan cruise to be the venue for our honeymoon. We searched for "best couples Alaskan cruise" and the Celebrity Solstice appeared on the top three to five on the various review sites we visited. We had a good experience on a two-night Carnival cruise to Ensenada and back but were looking for something more adult-oriented ... and Carnival's reputation has suffered a bit over the last couple years with epidemic illnesses on their ships. Celebrity was offering an attractive promotion when I booked in March. I think they call it a 1-2-3 GO package ... including $300 ship-board credit (we applied to excursions), gratuities and their Classic Beverage Package. The total price was reasonable though at the north end of the options. I had to make some changes to our reservation along the way and my only criticism of our entire Celebrity experience relates to the sloppy way one of their vacation planners handled my change request (she deleted my reservation before confirming an alternate sail date ... she was able to restore it fifteen anxiety-filled moments later and was remorseful for the mistake.)

Our on-board experience was delightful in every regard. We stayed on the concierge level. Our room (including bathroom) was spacious with lots of storage space and a very comfortable bed (foam I believe). Our room included a balcony which we enjoyed daily. Our vacation planner booked us a room that faced east on the sail up to Skagway so we enjoyed majestic views from 6:00 AM to 10:00 PM every day - thank you Daniel!

Miguel was our stateroom attendant. He greeted us warmly shortly after we arrived and proved his sincerity every day keeping our room tidy and well-supplied ... including creative, whimsical towel sculptures (including a truly hilarious chimpanzee that I would attach a photo of here but do not see an attachment feature.) We slept in most days and keep the do not disturb sign on the door most of the day but somehow Miguel figured ways to get in and out of our room during our excursions and ensured we always returned to a orderly room - he is a true professional.
