This will be the last time.

Some twenty or twenty five years ago, my wife and I stayed at a Princess Hotel in Hamilton, Bermuda. It wasn’t a very pleasant experience. After which, I swore not to go anywhere or do anything again, with “Princess” in the name. Well, comes 2015, our small family of eight all wanted to do a cruise around the U.K. and based upon our limitations (budget, schedule, time of year, etc., it seemed like Princess matched up the best. Yes there were others, but we couldn’t match our needs to what they had to offer. Consequently we faced a Hobson ’s choice, and selected the Royal Princess.

Things didn’t go well even before we got to the ship. Anywhere from inane repetitive requests for more and more information, a web site that clearly was designed by a web designer who hadn’t a clue how to make it easy for the users, and a frequent inability to access information on their site. It might more accurately be described as not user friendly. It certainly wasn’t intuitive. Thankfully, we’d booked early enough to allow me to stumble and bumble my way in and around their requirements and we all managed to have the necessary documents completed and all necessary information in their hands and were ready to board when the time came.

Cabin Review

Deluxe Balcony

We had three adjoining cabins, on the Dolphin deck, port side just aft of the aft elevators.

I would add to the info above, that the daily service to the cabin was totally acceptable. We had daily ice as requested on the first day and there was very little interruptions by the cabin steward.

Port Reviews

St. Peter Port (Guernsey)

Terrific place! Re-set your watch to 1960. Great walking town. Makes one want to come back.

Liverpool

Due to walking difficulties, spent most of our time around the dock areas. Lunch was great and the pubs were great. Had a chance to speak with many of the locals. Heartwarming and welcoming to tourists.

Greenock (Glasgow)

We didn't budget our time sufficiently and didn't have enough time to see all we wished to.

Edinburgh (South Queensferry)

Hop-On-Hop-Off bus was the best way to go in this city. Able to see most of what we had planned (not Edinburgh Castle. Too many tourists, it was Sunday), but we had fun, none the less. Did some wool shopping in between lunch and the pubs.
