We are a family of four - Dad (52), Mom (45), son (19) and daughter (17). We took this cruise as an early HS graduation present for our daughter (we assume all will go well and she will indeed graduate in June!). We booked it last summer using an onboard deposit we had made in June 2007 on Enchantment of the Seas (our son's graduation gift). This was our 3rd cruise on RCCL (we have also cruised Celebrity, Disney and Cunard [twice on QM2, parents only]) but our first ever vacation to the Caribbean in January - we always seem to go somewhere hot when it's already warm here in NJ.

I do a lot of research (especially on Cruise Critic) and narrow my choices down and then use a TA to research prices and book the cruise. We picked this cruise because we have enjoyed our RCCL experiences in the past, wanted to try the Freedom class, liked the itinerary and it was just a great price - cheaper than other options at the same time. We booked two cabins - mid-ship balcony for us and an inside across the hall for the kids. Soon after booking the cruise we booked our flights on JetBlue out of Newark.

We flew out on Saturday Jan 3rd arriving in Ft. Lauderdale around 7 PM. I used Marriott points to book a free room at the Spring Hill Suites at the airport. The hotel provided free van service between hotel/airport and port so we didn't rent a car.
