Background Info:
Took the 7-day south-bound cruise from Seward to Vancouver, BC. We booked a private 7-day land tour ahead of the cruise. Actually flew into Anchorage, and spend the first 7 nights seeing Denali, Talkeenka, Fairbanks, Seward. Had a great time, and would highly recommend Alaska Tour & Travel for the land portion. I read plenty of previous reviews that recommended booking the land tour separately, and I definitely agree with them. We saw plenty of Celebrity and Holland America tour groups, and my wife and I really enjoyed touring ourselves. We landed on Rush Glacier with K2 Aviation out of Talkeenta, and loved the Talkeetna Alaskan Lodge by the way. We also totally loved the Kenai Fjords tour out of Seward. Those are just a few of the highlights of the land tour, which would be a completely separate review :)
Picked up the Millennium in Seward ...
Very similar to our experience on the Equinox about five years ago. Good sized bed, stateroom steward was really attentive. Loved the balcony. One of our bags was too thick to fit under the bed, but just stashed it on the balcony, no problems. Bathroom was fine, and actually the shower exceeded my expectations. Good water pressure, nice hot water.
Its a ship stateroom, not the Ritz Carlton, so if you have your expectations set accordingly, you will be pleasantly surprised.
We had already done so much in Alaska, we did not book a formal excursion in this port. We did attend the lumberjack show which we thought was fun, had a nice time visiting Creek Street and the native totem pole park. We also highly recommend the Fox Hole Lodge at the top of the funicular (at Creek Street).
We spent an extra night in Vancouver, and had a great time touring the city. We went to Granville Island, took the Aqua Bus(es), saw the Fly over Canada exhibit which as awesome, and saw Stanley Park.
