Bayonne would not be my favorite port, but boarding was easy. There were glasses of champagne and Mimosas on a table on the deck as you boarded, but there was a lack of crew members to welcome and/or direct you to your room. My daughter and her family had a Concierge room and there was no Daily Bulletin in the room and absolutely no mention of where to go for the buffet. If we had not been also on board, they would have been at a loss for information, and no one gets a ship's map. Our room, also a Concierge on another deck, was very nice and our steward, Johnson, was very efficient. However, there was no card anywhere in the cabin mentioning his name or that of his assistant, as well as no mention whatsoever of the concierge. We found out later and regretfully, I have to say she was absolutely useless and very hard to find. Our only request was that she print our boarding passes at the end of the cruise. We requested them 3 separate times and personally gave her the ID numbers. However, she never printed them and never called to indicate that she could not. I would probably not book Concierge again. It was not as advertised (no flowers, we only used snacks once) and our other daughter with 2 regular balcony rooms said there was no extra room in ours.

Many folks say the Summit is not good for children or young teens, but my grandson, age 11, absolutely loved his Fun Club and spent much of each day with his new friends. My granddaughters, ages 14, also enjoyed the Kareoke and dancing for older teens.

My husband and I have cruised nearly 50 times in the past and I have to say that the food in the main dining room of the Summit was superior. Even though we had anytime dining, we had the same table (417) with Eduardo each time we dined there with our group of 9 or 10 and his was wonderful in every way. The Oceanview and Gardenview buffets were OK for breakfast and lunch, but we were very disappointed with the quality of dinner offerings and their desserts, especially cakes, were pretty bad. The last evening, we went to Qsine and our group of 9 had a fantastic time. The presentation is wonderful.

Cabin Review

Concierge Class 2

The room was fine, no plumbing issues or loud noises, and the beds were relatively comfortable. Bedding was nice. Spacious for a cruise ship with lots of storage. Steward was wonderful and even made cute towel animals several night.

Port Reviews

Bayonne (Cape Liberty)

Port itself is OK, but very hard to get to from the airport.
