I decided to write a small review of our western Caribbean cruise we did back in January 2015. Overall it was a great trip. Only the 2nd one for me, as a civilian. Did a few during my Navy time, but those were not in the lap of luxury, to say the least.
We left Ft Lauderdale on 25 Jan 2015. We did a full day at sea before arriving at Cozumel, Mexico on 27 Jan 2015. Since we didn't expect to be coming back to this part of the world again, we decided to splurge on an excursion to Chichen Itza. This was a wonderful experience. The only drawback is the distance from Cozumel. One must take a water taxi trip from Cozumel to the mainland, and then a long bus ride through the country side. We were only on site for about 1.5 hours. But ultimately, it was worth it to me.
This trip took almost all day which is why I scheduled this excursion via Celebrity. With no margin of error in time, I wanted Celebrity to be on the hook for a late returning tour, and not me.
Clean, comfortable and very quiet, as I would expect being an interior cabin.
We only strolled the main street of Georgetown. Just a little touristy sightseeing.
We had to "anchor" on the lee side of the island, away from Georgetown, however provided a shuttle to Georgetown.
Nothing really happening here. Just a beach owned by Royal Caribbean Cruises for use by RCCL and X ships. I'm not much of a beach person so I went ashore to take some pictures. After eating the ship provided meal, we went back aboard.
