The itinerary can't be beat. Sailing up the Neva River into the heart of St. Petersburg and sailing through the Tower Bridge in London was exceptional. But the dining really took away from the trip. We were told by some frequent Silversea travelers that the menu was new for 2015 and was disappointing. We had to agree. It was limited and we often did not like the options for the day. Then the alternative was burgers and not very good ones, on a luxury cruse!! I was served a medium rare steak that was a very poor cut cooked very well done. The food was mostly mediocre, with a few good servings.
The service was excellent with a couple of exceptions. Our "Butler" was a little difficult to understand and had some trouble understanding us. But She once she understood what we wanted she bent over backwards to accommodate us. The staff in the dining rooms were also excellent.
The currency on board was US Dollars. This was a pain since we were sailing in Europe and we could not get change for Euros, that sort of thing. I think they did this to take advantage of the dollar's' exchange rate, which meant we could not.
The cabin was decent but we experienced tapping and some kind of impact tool noise two afternoons of the cruise. This went on for several hours. We finally complained and it eventually stopped.
