As Diamond members who have had numerous cruises with Royal Caribbean, we were anticipating a Quantum cruise to be the best ever. We were greatly disappointed. The staff was poorly trained, with a couple of exceptions (our cabin steward was excellent) and some were even extremely rude. Especially the woman bartender in the Diamond lounge who insulted some friends who were with us one evening. Except for 2 nights, the entertainment was poor to mediocre. The meals were ok except for one of the restaurants, Jamie Oliver’s, for which we paid extra, and the service and food there was terrible.

The ship was attractive enough but when one considers all of the other amenities one should expect on a cruise, this one let us down. BTW, they don't provide shampoo, conditioners, etc. unless you request these, first time we'd experience that on a cruise. The disembarkation in Shanghai was a debacle. We waited in a line for nearly an hour after our number had been called and then when we got to the luggage warehouse, much of the luggage had not arrived and some that had was not organized. The place was a madhouse and no Royal personnel were around to provide any assistance. It took some of our friends traveling with us nearly an hour to locate their luggage. Royal's staff were apparently on board entertaining a number of Chinese dignitaries who were their guests. One of the veteran staff members told us RCC is bringing ships on line faster than they can train personnel. Royal is planning to bring several new ships into service within the next couple of years, however, if they don’t get their act together, they will loose many of their loyal clients, such as ourselves.
