We just returned from our cruise and I must say disappoint is my key word. We are veteran cruisers (20+) and have been on Ncl, Royal,Carnival and Princess. We go way back with NCL and cruised on the Norway a beautiful ship. The last few years we have gone with Royal Caribbean on the Oasis and the Allure but last year we switched up and tried the NCL Epic and other than the ""strange" bathroom design we lover it !! Food was great, room was good and Entertainment was outstanding so this year at the last minute we decided to try Norwegian again and booked on the Getaway. Embarkation was smooth and easy we got on by noon and knew the rooms would not be ready yet so we went to eat and asked when rooms would be ready and wer told about 1 pm so about 1:30 we headed to room only to find the area outside the elevators loaded with people standing and sitting on the floor waiting for rooms to be ready. It was not until 2:20 pm that we were able to get to our room this is the latest we have ever gotten to our rooms. I understand the need to be efficient and keep costs low but I think the staffing levels are getting too low. We got to the room and then about an hour later we went to our safety drill which was very disorganized.

I will just hilight some of the issues we found

FOOD: overall was adequate we had the Dining package as part of our booking so we could have eaten in the "speciality" restaurants every night but we didn't we ate at Taste and Savor the main dining rooms and food was ok.we ate at the Garden cafe for lunch everyday and that was good and then we ate at Cagney's steakhouse and waitstaff and food were excellent, the Italian restaurant we sat outside at the waterfront and that setting was very nice but the food was awful and so was the service. Service was slow and waiting for your drink to be refilled (tea and coffee ) was non- existent. The waitstaff helper told us she would rather work in the main dining rooms because she could goof off more there but in this restaurant she was watched too much.
