My husband and I threw down some serious money to take our 3 year old son on a Disney cruise, and now I'm a little worried that we'll be taking a Disney cruise every year from here on out because we LOVED it! We started the trip with the mindset that we were spending a ton of money, but it was a once in a lifetime trip/cruise so we'll continue putting money away each month for our son's college education. Yea right, we're already planning another one for next year...and I'm seeing many more in our future! I'll break the news to our son after the 10th or so cruise.

In all seriousness, we absolutely loved taking a 5 night cruise to the Bahamas on the Disney Dream. It was amazing, and everyone working on the ship was so friendly and helpful. Thousands of people on the ship and several crew members could still remember my son's name and what he had told them the day before (He said he wanted to see Nemo when we were leaving the ship for a day on Castaway Cay, and the next time we went there...2 full days later the crew member checking room keys asked him if he saw Nemo last time.)

The food was awesome (I gained 5 lbs.) and having never-ending access to a soft-serve ice-cream bar was wonderful. My 3 year old had an absolute blast in both the Nemo splash area and the kid's pool. We had a room on the 5th deck that had a huge balcony, with my only complaint being that it was apparently smack on top of a theater that we heard throughout the day and night. But it didn't bother us much since our days were so action packed. We'd hear the movie and feel the vibrations from the sound system through our floor...we'd mumble something about it being too loud to sleep, and then we'd all be fast asleep 5 minutes later.

Deluxe Family Oceanview Stateroom with Verandah (oversized verandah)

Cabin 04E

The cabin is a little smaller than it looks in pictures, but it was decent sized for the 3 of us. The verandah was amazing, I couldn't get enough of it. The closets were roomy, and there was plenty of storage space under the bed for us to keep all of our luggage. The bed was very comfortable, and the sofa that pulls out into a bed was roomier than I thought it would be. My only complaint with this stateroom in particular is that it seemed to be over the big theater so we did hear a lot of music and noise from the shows. Personally I sleep with earplugs so it wasn't a big problem for me, and my 3 year old didn't seem to even notice. But if you're a light sleeper, this might not be the room for you.

Castaway Cay

We didn't book anything extra during the Castaway Cay outing, but we still really enjoyed our time there. We rented a float and hung out at the family beach all day, then had lunch (which I absolutely loved), walked around a little and then headed back to the boat around 3. Very relaxing day, and because we got out there pretty early we were able to get the perfect beach spot...chairs under two palm trees with a hammock in between. Perfect day.
