Our Alaskan cruise was everything we expected it to be and more. The breath taking scenery of the inside passage is something that has to actually be seen because there is no way to adequately describe it. We were impressed by how close we actually got to glaciers with a ship of this size. The Captain did a magnificent job of allowing all passengers views not soon to be forgotten. The ship itself was perfect for what we had intended, and that was to take in the beauty of Alaska. We had a balcony room on the starboard side of the ship for our northbound cruise which allowed us to view the expanse of Alaska from our room when not on deck doing the same. We saw our first Orca pod from our balcony during a early morning cup of coffee and that was something we will never forget.

The food was good, no complaints. We had a package which allowed us to eat at the specialty restaurants and we took advantage of that. Le Bistro turned out to be our favorite specialty restaurant as we ate there 3 times. Cagney's Steak House was also a very nice restaurant as was La Cucina. Our only disappointment meal wise was the Moderno restaurant which just didn't measure up to other Brazilian style restaurants we have eaten at. Lunch fare at the main dining restaurants was very good and the service great. We ate at the buffet breakfast on a few mornings and in the main dining room for a more formal served breakfast on other days. Both were good with no complaints. The buffet breakfast was a lot more crowded and at times hard to find seating but not to the point of abandoning the meal.

We both found the entertainment to be entertaining. We were not looking for broadway show caliber entertainment and found the few shows we attended to be enjoyable. We spent a lot more time enjoying the musical entertainment at the various locations throughout the ship which usually turned out to be in the numerous bars. The musical entertainment was outstanding.

Cabin Review

Mid-Ship Balcony

Cabin BA

The cabin was very adequate with plenty of storage space for everything you bring along. The balcony was fantastic and we will never cruise without one. We had a queen size bed and a small sitting area with a small somewhat worn, couch. The bathroom and shower are smaller than at home but you're on a ship and should expect that. The convenience of our room to the major areas of the ship, (dining, entertainment) was another plus. The room was very clean and we were taken care of very nicely by our steward Felix. Excellent room.

Port Reviews

Vancouver

Very easy embarkation.

Seward

Disembarkation was easy and simple.

Glacier Bay

Scenery you have to see to believe.

Ketchikan

Fun little Alaskan town to walk around and enjoy the local businesses. Two to three hours should be plenty of time to allow in order to see the entire town.
