We just returned from our second family cruise on the Carnival Triumph, which left Galveston on the 4th of July (2015). The previous reviews were very helpful to us so we thought we would share our experience as well in hopes that it will help prepare other families for a fun filled voyage. We were fortunate to have beautiful weather - the sea was pretty calm. None of us were sea sick at all - did not have to take any meds, use patches or bands, etc, on this voyage.

Our first cruise was a Disney cruise last July (2014) - that was an amazing experience - we didn't think anything could top Disney, but Carnival came close! Close enough that we would book Carnival over Disney simply because of the price. Being the 4th of July, we were secretly wishing for fireworks (the Disney cruise had fireworks) but guess Carnival is not there yet. Had to settle for photo ops with "Uncle Sam" guy and an "American Flag" lady - too cheesy - didn't buy any of those!

We are Texas residents so we had a relative drop us off at the Port of Galveston. The Galveston waters are not the most beautiful but the port was convenient AND we did see 3 dolphins from our private balcony on the ship before we left the dock.
