This is our 5th Royal Carribean Cruise and second time on Freedom of the Seas with the western Carribean itnerary. The first time we sailed with RC on this ship, we really liked it because we had only been on 2-3 with Carnival. Of course, RC is a lot better than Carnival, so if this is your first cruise, then this is completely fine and a good value for the money. At this point, however, we have been on 9 cruises and several lines, and we were disappointed, so I would not recommend this ship for more experienced cruisers. I would recommend you go with Oasis or Allure if you want to stay with RC.
We stayed on the 8th floor. This was a great choice because we only had to walk up 3 floors to the pool and down 3 flights to the bar. Typically, you want to stay in the middle, but we were toward the front this time. There was not much sway at all, so no worries for people can't take much motion in the ocean. We had an interior room with no view. The last time we had an interior room with a view of the Promenade. We like interior rooms because you really can sleep well and don't pay all the extra money for a balcony when you are never there. This time, however, our room backed up to a crew area where it sounded like they were washing dishes until 1AM. It was pretty noisy. That was not our experience when we had an interior room that looked over the Promenade. The cabin was older but clean and completely adequate.
We only did one day off the ship this time since we have done this before and it was in Cozumel. We did the Cozumel Country Club. We didn't do it through RC who wanted 189 a persons. We did it through our home course and club corp for 30 per person.
Interior cabin. Very noisy. It backs up to a crew area where it sounds like they are doing dishes.
Played golf at Cozumel country club. It was nice because we got it for 30 through club corp instead of 189 RC wanted per person. We had the entire course to ourselves. It is not over the ocean. Bring lots of balls and bug spray. Very well maintained course.
