On our recent cruise on the Splendor we were very unimpressed with Carnival. Our suite was nice and spacious with a great size balcony. Bathroom could have used a better cleaning. Otherwise it was clean. Crew could use a little pick me up. They seemed liked they were just there to do a job and not smile or say acknowledge the guests. We would say hello, good morning just to be ignored. Breakfast at the Golden Pearl was rushed even though the place was fairly empty. We had anytime dining which worked out well for us. Longest time we waited was about 30 mintues because it was cruise elegant night and everyone seemed to come out at the same time. Wasn't bad though we got a beeper and sat and enjoyed a drink while watching the musician. Dining staff wasn't friendly at all. Again we felt either rushed to get in and out or when we were there later in the evening it seemed like we were forgotten.

Food was ok, I think the comfort food menu though was good. We went to the steak house one night which was pretty good except I don't understand why when the place is 3/4 empty does it still take 2 hours to eat? Granted I don't mind that but when we are running to get to a program it was tight. As for ship being clean throughout the public areas that had little to be desired. Only a few ties did I ever see people use the perill. There was food and dishes left everywhere with looked to me like a skeleton staff to clean up. We booked one excursion through Carnival which was too over priced for what we got. It was a quick ride around San Juan and then a drop off at the Fort and Shopping. For 100 a couple we could have got off the boat and walked it.

We did book an excursion for St Thomas through Sunny Liston tours which was really good. For 34 a person you were driven to shopping for two hrs, then we went to the top of the Mountain for some danquiries and beautiful scenery along the way, then off to Magens Bay Beach for 2 hours of swimming and snorkeling.
