Having been Cruise virgins we did not know what to expect. We hadn't even been abroad for 20 years so we were both a bit apprehensive - we booked the cruise as a present to each other for our 25th Anniversary. From the moment we stepped off the plane in Venice it was clear that this was a well organised affair. There were a number of people with placards telling us which way to go so there was no confusion at all. When we got to the ship (Oceana) we were greeted and had our photo's taken (even though we'd been up since 2am)!!

We sat in the Yacht & Compass (traditional English bar) and waited until our cabin was ready.

Our balcony cabin was lovely and we were glad we'd splashed out for a view. From that moment on our experience of the Oceana got better and better. All week we had absolutely no problems with staff or other guests. The staff couldn't do enough for us and our Steward left us lovely towel animals every evening. The food was gorgeous and I had to stop myself from gorging after day 2!!! The evening meal was in the Adriatic Restaurant where, yet again the staff were lovely and couldn't do enough. We were on a table of 8 and our dinner guests were all very interesting and we got on well. Read more
