This was our first cruise in over 20 years. Once on Holland and twice on the Home Lines Homeric. What a change in cruising. The Breakaway is gorgeous inside and outside. The Waterfront decks are awesome with outside dining in the specialty restaurants. We enjoyed the Freestyle Dining and ate twice at Ocean Blue and twice at La Cucina, once at Ocean Blue's Raw Bar. The food is spectacular; well-prepared, well-presented, well-served and delicious. The food in the smaller complimentary restaurants, Taste and Savor, was surprisingly good. O'Sheehan's has very good burgers and such as well as ice cream sundaes.
We wanted to relax and watch the ocean during the day, but entertainment is non-stop if you so choose. Burn the Floor was a spectacular dance review - many of the troupe have gone on to Dancing with the Stars! Rock of Ages was just okay and very racy. Kids should not be permitted. The best entertainment was in Fat Cats, the jazz/blues bar. Big Papa on his combo were terrific, great musicians, very funny and entertaining. We were in there every night after dinner. Piano bars and guitar singers at some of the other bars. There are 22 different bars onboard!
We were very impressed with the cleanliness in our cabin and in all the public areas. Our cabin steward kept our room sparkling clean and you can always find a crew member polishing a railing or cleaning a window. Very impressive.
Our steward Renato kept our cabin immaculately clean and neat as a pin. Our rear-facing balcony was larger than the side balconies (Large enough for a chaise lounge, 3 chairs and a small table) and always a great view when cruising. The cabin itself was more than large enough for the two of us with plenty of storage, nice bathroom, flat screen TV. The bed was quite comfortable, even with my back problems
