It's been a 3 years since I sailed with Celebrity last but up until this recent announcement about the changes on Eclipse I have always enjoyed the overall service which has been consistent on 3 earlier cruises I have done with them, hence my 5 star rating. Having completed 23 cruises to date with various cruise lines I have always put Celebrity in my top 3. However, I think this recent change which provides special bars, clubs and restaurants etc. for suite passengers only is a step in the wrong direction, unless of course you are a 'suite cruiser' where you will no doubt disagree with me.

I have also cruised with Cunard a couple of times before and they also have special areas and restaurants etc. for those fortunate enough to be able to 'upgrade'. I am sorry, but all this smacks of gross snobbery and creates a most unwelcomed 'them and us' situation. I say think again Celebrity, you have a great well proven standard in the industry so PLEASE don't go down this route. What about also this sneakily introducing an increase in bar gratuities to 18% !!!! I like many other cruisers I have spoken to in the past thought that 15% was bad enough and now this PLUS an increase in the daily gratuity rate is going to put quite a few people off cruising for good or at least change to a less greedy cruise line. Beware Celebrity - You have been warned!
