We took an 11 day cruise around the Baltic on Regal Princess in June.Shortly before the sail date we received a cabin upgrade, apparently because bookings were so slow that the cheapest cabins were then being offered at almost half the original price.
This ship is almost new, but surprisingly poorly laid out, with the design emphasis on packing in the cabins, often to the detriment of the public areas. Elevators and stairways were inadequate for the number of passengers, and some bars and lounges have views of the lifeboats rather than the ocean.
The main restaurant in particular is cheap and rather pokey, more like a cafe than the quality dining area you'd hope for on a cruise like this. Food was generally average to poor, and after 3 evenings in the restaurant we opted for the buffet for the rest of the cruise. Better atmosphere and menu options.
We got an upgrade, and were very happy with our cabin. Some people complained about the size of the balconies, but we thought they were fine for 2 people, and comparable to others we've had on other cruises.
A couple of passengers we met reported problems with power and hot water that took too long to fix, but we had no such issues.
Didn't take the 3 hour round trip to Berlin. Warnemunde is an average little town, but took the train around the area which is quite historic in places
Nicely preserved mediaeval town with some lovely old churches. Very touristy and quite pricey, but very pretty in the sunshine
Surprising city, very people friendly. A few lovely art deco buildings, otherwise not much in the way of monuments
Beautiful old mediaeval area, and spectacular harbour. The ship museum is not to be missed
