My husband and I are 60+ and this was our 2nd Norwegian cruise. We live in Florida, so there is no review for a Miami hotel. Getting to the ship is fairly easy, there are clearly posted signs in the city as to how to get to the ship's embarkation. However, be forwarned, if you park at the port terminal it is expensive. You are better off exploring other parking options. Getting onboard was relatively quick and painless, as we are return guests and got on an expedited line. The Getaway is a huge ship. I want to say that if you have trouble walking distances be aware of this. However, there are plenty of places to sit along the way. I felt that the two pools were small for the size of the ship. They were always crowded. Overall, it is a lovely vessel, very clean and well maintained. Of course, it is still new.

Freestyle dining is one of the main reasons that we like Norwegian so much and the dining experiences were from poor to excellent. We chose the ultimate dining package as a perk upon booking the cruise and that gave us some more options. Our worse experience was at Taste where my husband ordered a cornish hen dinner and was served half of a cornish hen! Our second worst food experience were the all you can eat ribs at O'Sheehans. I actually could not eat the ribs that were served to me. Plus service was poor and disorganized. Our best experiences included Teppanyaki, the Japanese restaurant (highly recommended) and the Brazilian Moderno Churrascaria (wish we had eaten there more). Of course the buffet was good for breakfast. It seemed that if there was a way to cut corners, it was done at the restaurants. Entertainment was very, very good. There was always something to see and experience. I highly, highly recommend seeing Burn The Floor. That is a Broadway quality production! Other than the two poor dining experiences my only other complaint was disembarkation. It was tedious, drawn out and miserable. I hope they find another way to do it. Overall, this was a good cruise experience and we will cruise Norwegian again.

Cabin Review

Mid-Ship Mini-Suite with Balcony

Cabin MA

Our cabin was similar to a small hotel room. There was ample space for the two of us to move about without getting in each other's way. The bathroom was lovely. Double sinks, a tub/shower combo with shower door and plenty of space. The bathroom alone made it worth the extra money! We enjoyed having a balcony, I loved sitting out there at night.

Port Reviews

St. Thomas

We love St. Thomas. We got off the ship, went shopping the took a VI taxi into town and got on a safari bus tour around the Island for $20 pp. It was beautiful and the tour guide Joe, was the best!

Tortola

We got off the ship, hopped on a safari bus and took a tour of Tortola. If heights are scary along with narrow, mountainous roads with no guard rails, a safari bus tour is not for you. We also stopped and swam at Hawks Nest Beach, all for $20pp. Tortola is beautiful!

Nassau

We just walked into town. Again be advised that the walk can be very tiresome. We did stop and eat some conch fritters (conch is a must have in the Bahamas). They were excellent! Also stopped in at the Bob Marley store, a must for Marley fans!
