Just returned from 14 days aboard the Britannia and I can`t understand why she is getting bad reviews. This was my 44th cruise (mostly P&O) and Britannia is certainly my favourite ship. How can you not be impressed by the Atrium which for me has the "wow" factor. The food was 1st class from start to finish from the Oriental Restaurant (1st sitting) to the excellent Glass House at lunch. I like my food so if it wasn`t up to standard, I would complain. I ordered extra vegetables as they are now already served on your plate so if you have a good appetite just shout up! As I was in a cabin on Lido Deck, the missing middle staircase did not cause me a problem. We were very lucky with the weather and Captain Brown told us that this was the best weather the Britannia has experienced since her launch. Entertainment was excellent with 4 theatre productions and the "video wall" which enhanced the enjoyment of the performances. Manuel Martinez was hilarious as usual as was Josh Daniels. Tribute acts The Beatles Experience, Beautiful World (Take That) and Jimmy Jermain (Cliff Richard) were fantastic!
Service was always with a smile and the bar staff soon got to know your favourite tipple!
I didn`t go on any trips this year as I have been on many before and if you have never looked around Civitavecchia before, it is worth a look as the shuttle bus drops you off near the promenade where there is a beach ( a bit pebbly) and a few bars etc.
The cabin was very comfortable and the glass door in the shower is a big improvement
Barcelona always has something for everyone-The market is a must!
Monaco is exciting and looking at those yachts has plenty of rich residents
A city of contrasts from quite a poverty stricken old town to the modern marina.
The first time I had not taken a trip in Civitavecchia and it is worth seeing the promenade and visiting the bars for a welcome drink!
