Our Celebrity Summit cruise to the southern Caribbean was a pleasure in most respects.  We enjoyed the islands very much, and the ship, for the most part.  Our only prior cruise with our family of 5 (DH/DW late 40's, 3 teenaged DD's) was on the RC Serenade of the Seas, also out of San Juan, last December.  We have traveled extensively on land, both resort-type vacations and international sight-seeing vacations.Would we cruise Celebrity again?  Yes, but I wouldn't say that we were convinced that I would only cruise Celebrity from now on.  There were some very nice things about Celebrity, and a few things that they could improve. All in all, it was a very nice cruise, even if it wasn't as upscale and elegant as some would have you believe.Arriving in Puerto Rico: We flew in the day before and spent the night at the Embassy Suites near the airport. It worked out well for us since we could book one room instead of two, for the five of us. We were able to enjoy both the manager's reception and breakfast cooked to order the next morning. The hotel itself was acceptable, not elegant, considering it's not a resort property and it was very, very busy. I knew that our ship didn't leave from Old San Juan, so it didn't make sense to me for us to book in that area.

We left for the pier by 11:30 or so the next morning.

Embarkation: Fairly smooth. We did have to wait to embark which was unexpected. We were allowed to start the process at about 12:30 or so.
