This was our second cruise with Celebrity and won’t be our last. The cruise line does a wonderful job of providing fine customer service and affordable luxury. The Cruise Director and Activities Director were a delight!...they could take their comedy on the road ( to be joined by the Captain who was quite a comedian in his own right!) The food was excellent, the entertainment exceptional and the overall experience pretty good. I say “pretty good” because there were some annoyances and disappointments I feel are worth noting:

This was the first time that Celebrity offered this itinerary. As a result, they seemed unprepared. There were gangway issues that caused guests who were disembarking to wait forever for them to figure it out. Then there was the tendering…what a nightmare! Only six lifeboats were available to thousands of passengers attempting to get to excursions and or planned meetings. Again, we waited for well over an hour to get ashore, much of the time spent in line on the stairway. One tender ride was 25 minutes long so do the math!

We generally choose the cruise line’s excursions for the insurance of timeliness they afford. However, we feel as if we were robbed of precious free time since that is what is eliminated when the exclusion can’t get started on time. We also find the herding mentality used by Celebrity by packing all excursion-goers into the theater to be dismissed like school children next to intolerable (especially given the aforementioned gangway and tender issues). We were not the only travelers to figure out that we could get our number and go directly to the busses rather than waiting in the hot theater.
