So we have not cruised RCI for a while. We usually choose cruises by where its going and value. This cruise we ended up on RCI Jewel of the Seas. We booked 17 months out so were very lucky to get balcony cabin 8088. This is a normal balcony room which is great, with a huge balcony. We loved it and enjoyed it a lot. This room is located right off of the Centrum so we did hear some music at night. It is also located right next to the Explorers Lounge which is a kind if International Desk. This was the perfect location for our room. The desk is only used about 5% of the time. Other wise its empty. We used these chairs (about 8 of them) to lounge around in during the evenings, to meet up with our fellow travelers, and to enjoy listening to the music at time. This was great place. Room right near the elevators (but was not noisy from the elevators or passengers) If you can get this room, do it.

The ship was beautiful. Now I know others mention its age. Yes.. ship is getting close to getting a update but I really felt it look great for its age. I love the décor and colors. It was refreshing to have a ship with class and taste in its décor. You know when you book the ship its older.. so look past that and enjoy. Staff were friendly. No overly friendly. But they all did their job well and we enjoyed them. Our waiters Mohamed and Ana were great and were very attentive. We mentioned one night the very large group near us (about 100 people from a tire company) had fresh fruit on their tables when they got to dinner. He made sure we did too from then on.

Drinks were of course high price. It just goes with the territory now. We notice drink staff were hard to find. I think since they don't have to push drinks now because of all the prepaid packages they don't come around as much. We set in the solarium one day for three hours and no one came around to offer us a drink. Not once. Seemed strange. Food was good... great dinner at Chops on our last night. Buffet and dining room were good and choices were good. Best embarkment ever. Walked into the port at 10:40 and on the ship at 10:55. Dis embarkment a little slower but still ok. A little hard to get to luggage. Too much in a small area since 2 ships came in at once. This is truly the first time we have left a ship wanting to take another cruise just so we can get on that ship again. I plan on booking her again just for that room location. Entertainment was really the only negative. The shows were really not good. Costumes poor quality and just strange performances. We always go.. but wish we would have missed these. Even won a little cash in the casino. Great cruise.
