This was our first river cruise. We wanted to do something special for our 30th anniversary and this certainly fit the bill. Being a fluent Hungarian speaker, I felt treated in a special manner by the Hungarian crew members and executive chef Erik.
The stateroom surprisingly ample storage and the service was prompt. Dining was exquisite, the Hungarian and Austrian specialties brought back childhood memories. The ports and shore excursions felt enriching, we saw things and did things, such as climbing to Richard the Lionheart's castle, that we could not have seen or done otherwise. After the cruise we stayed in Budapest for 2 more night, we made our arrangements thru Viking and it could not have been better. The hotel, Le Meridien was a 5 star hotel and Viking representatives were there the entire time. They came along with us to the airport and they stayed until everyone was checked in. Need I say more? The attention to detail and to the passengers who had mobility challenges was truly touching. It takes special people to do this and Viking has found them. I would like to name a few:Erik the executive chef, Nikola the concierge, Anthony the cruise director, Capt Geza, George the waiter.
