The dining room seats 180 people. On our previous river cruises, there were only 120 passengers, not 180. The ceiling in the Embla's dining room is very low. This produces a terrible sound quality. It was so noisy I had to shout to be heard by the person sitting right next to me. However, the service and the food were excellent.

There is actually only one day of river cruising on this river cruise. That is the day the ship sails through "The Iron Gates." This is a very beautiful part of the Danube and this day was very relaxing. The rest of the week, the ship cruises at night when you are asleep. During the day, you are on excursions to destinations which are frequently far away from where the ship docks and require long bus rides. This is not relaxing. It is exhausting.

The parts of the cruise I enjoyed the most were the Putszta horsemanship show and the home visit in Croatia. The 2-night stay in the Budapest Hilton was amazing. We were a stone's throw from the Fisherman's Bastion and had an incredible view from our room of all of Pest including the Parliament and the Chain Bridge.

Cabin Review

French Balcony

Cabin D

Our cabin was on the middle deck and it was only 135 sq. ft. This is VERY CRAMPED. We have travelled in this same price category on several other river ships with Avalon, Uniworld and even previously with Viking and the cabin was larger. The French balcony may make the cabin seem larger but you can never actually open the windows because of the mosquitoes.

The bed was TERRIBLE! We both woke up with backaches every morning.
