We flew in the night before and stayed the Delta Burnaby. I was not aware that arrangements could be made to have your flight arranged with the cruise line so that they will be sure that you get to the ship if there is a problem with the airlines. The hotel clerk was not sure which port to go to and even though I had checked before leaving home, I had forgotten. The cab driver made his money taking us to the wrong port and then driving so safely and slowly to the correct port. Once we arrived at the port the process of embarkation went smoothly. Sail away was nice as we went to the top deck and enjoyed watching the ship sail out of Vancouver. There was a nice party going on the pool deck. It was a nice blue, sky sunny day. The weather cooperated! The next day was all cruising and we listened to a talk by a Canadian Mountie and after that a talk by a couple that have been visiting Alaska for 30 years. It was extremely informative about the glaciers and Alaska history.

Ketchikan - We chose the all you can eat crab. They first took us out and showed us how the crabs are caught and some people took a picture with the crab. The deck hand, Nikki, was extremely fun and informative concerning the crabs, Alaska, and all of the different types of Salmon. The bus driver on the way out to the lodge told us all about their tropical rain forest climate.

Icy Strait - We chose to do the ATV / 1.5 minute zipline. I should have given heed to a previous cruise critic that was not impressed with the ATV. We did not have to do that as a combo. The ATV is set to where it cannot go but one speed. It was a boring mundane ride where the tour guide liked to have us stop along the way and tell us the different bear stories that they have encountered on their small island. I believe that this should have been emphasized in the beginning of the ride of how dangerous the bears can be and how they have encountered them during the tours and how the towns people have encountered them. We had a better ATV experience on the Island of Kauai where the pedal was not set to prevent a driver from having a good time. (Kipu Ranch if you are ever on Kauai) The zipliner was an awesome rush! I loved the whole thing, but those that were shaking in their fears ended up glad that they had done it!

Cabin Review

Large Ocean View Stateroom

Cabin F

The cabin was not adequate for us both to unpack our suitcases and so DH always had to dig around in his suitcase as he never unpacked it.
