Traveled with children

We booked this with our children and grandchildren to celebrate our 50th anniversary a little early. This was probably our 60th cruise (we lost count a while ago.) The highlight of our trip was, of course, time with family, but the cruise itself was very good. We are Diamond on RCL and got the usual perks, some of which are great, some of which are not - but it's nice to be recognized. We had cabin 8504 which is an outside cabin and one of the largest on the ship. I think it may have been designed as a balcony cabin, but the additional space without the balcony made it larger than some of the suites on the ship. My daughter was in 8506 and it was the same configuration.

The ship:

Yep, she is a little older, but unlike some other reviewers, we never saw any of the drips, stains, etc. mentioned. Also, no foul odors anywhere. Some of the decor is dated, but in general cleanliness was excellent. We liked the atrium a lot, as did the kids, and the ocean facing elevators were an attraction of their own. The public spaces were sufficient for the passenger load (full) and the theater is nicely laid out with tiered seating, making it easy to find a good place to watch the shows. I haven't seen velour seats in a while, but they are wider than most ships, and have sufficient leg room.

Cabin Review

Large Ocean View Stateroom

Cabin I

The biggest cabin we have ever had on any ship or any line, including 2 suites we have booked in the past. Plenty of space, cabinets, drawers and included a full size sofa that makes into a king bed, plus a chair. The bath was typical - meaning small - and featured the "pneumatic tube" shower which we have come to dislike intensely, but they are the same in all cabins. Best cabin attendant we have ever had.
