Traveled with children

We just returned from Alaska (6-9 - 6/16) with a group of 9 total. children ages 6 and 8. Alaska is beautiful and my new favorite place. The weather was beautiful! We arrived in Seattle 2 days prior to embarking. I HIGHLY recommend this! You need time to adjust to the time change especially with children. I was so glad we had time to rest and we wasted no valuable cruise days being tired!! Embarkation was so easy! A little secret is they pay no attention to "boarding numbers" so after priority people go on we just got on the ship and no one ever asked or looked for a number. Our room was ready everything was simple. The kids area was great! On a different cruise last year My girls would not go in the oasis of the seas kids area ONE time. It was empty and BORING. Yet they were in the kids room daily on this ship! Two days they skipped dessert to go to the kids area (that says a lot!). Indoor pool was also a highlight for Alaska cruise. My oldest did the water slide once (the water was cold) but it was open multiple days with no lines! If your child will be wanting to frequently go on the slide I would bring a wetsuit! But once or twice was totally doable. There was no dr Seuss library but that's ok. The younger two kids' rooms were a little deceiving. It was ages 2-5 and ages 6-11. NOT as promoted (2-5, 6-8, 9-11). They are grouped into two rooms. So much to do in the 6-11 that it was not a problem. Alaska cruises generally have less children so although I was at first worried honestly it was never an issue as there just weren't a ton of kids. I do feel that parents should know this though. Most older kids didn't want to go in the room anyways (except occasionly to play wii) so my daughters aged kids were mainly there 6-8. Staff was friendly and from the first day dancing in the lobby I saw why they call it the fun ship. the ship was larger than I thought it was going to be but not huge crowds feeling ever. Comedy shows were worth attending George Lopez redesigned the program and its funny! the other shows were less than average and I would just skip and catch the views!! It was hardly ever dark in Alaska this time of year so beautiful sky's and scenery. We did my time dining and with a large group it was my only regret. It was hard to get a table for our size and we had different waiters every night. I would definitely just pick the late seating (to allow longer port day excursions) and never have to wait for a table!! The kids rooms had movie times scheduled in the kids area as they scheduled all activities but being in colder Alaska I do wish they had some movies in the theater or top deck. They did have the cartoonnetwork (sometimes inappropriate for young kids) and one new kids movie daily (to restart every 3 hours) daily. Same for adults one new movie daily (restart every 3 hours) announced the night before in your schedules. But adults had more options than kids. Family game time was fun and bingo is family friendly! Storytime and parade with dr. Seuss was a must for kids. And the breakfast with dr. Seuss was amazing and well worth the $5. Funny stacks of pancakes and waffles sooooo cute! I overpacked because I did not know that washing machines are on every floor! $3 and you use your key card so no change is needed (bring your own laundry detergent pods). Easy peasy and back to vacation! Internet is slow and not worth it! wifi in ports if needed. Adult area was so pretty and renovated so nice! They also had those huge canopy seats all over the ship for families to use :) beautiful cruise and ship and you cannot beat Alaska!! So much to do but scenery is number one.

Cabin Review

Extended Balcony

Cabin 8K

Lots of storage! Suitcases fit under the bed. Had a pull down bunk bed and a sofa bed under it. Only one power outlet literally ONE so a power adapter or at least a splitter is a must.
