I didn't choose this cruise. The friends we were cruising with chose it. I normally sail on Celebrity or Royal Caribbean so I was kind of dreading Norwegian. I was pleasantly surprised that it was better than I expected. The cruisers were all nice - no one was trashy or acting like they hadn't seen a buffet of food before. The cruise staff was great. Our stateroom attendant was perfect (Fatima on 9 mid-ship) and my vegetarian needs were met nicely by the various restaurants. GETAWAY is new and a beautiful ship. It's in good shape and was pretty. The public bathrooms were messy and dirty and not kept up. What a shame to give off a bad impression because of this.

We got into a special where all of the specialty restaurants were free. It was a challenge juggling our reservations with the entertainment reservations. I really enjoyed the specialty restaurants - I don't normally pay the price. Being a vegetarian, I was pleased with the meals I was offered and the special accommodations that were made for me. Whereas I loved the giant salad bar in Moderno, the other 5 adults in our group ate nothing as the meat was extremely raw and they couldn't seem to cook it to medium.

Illusionarium was a fun magic show - I would recommend it.

Mid-Ship Mini-Suite with Balcony

Cabin MB

Our room was very nice. It was a bit bigger than a normal balcony stateroom since it was a mini-suite. I didn't see the regular rooms but this room was about the size of a normal balcony room on Celebrity. The bathroom was GREAT! We had a full sized shower stall with a great showerhead and 6 jets. Nice!

We had plenty of storage shelves - and a very good sized closet with plenty of room to access it. Lots of storage!

The balcony was the tiniest I have ever seen on a cruise ship. We could barely face our chairs forward. But...it served its purpose.

Port Reviews

St. Thomas

We walked around the shops and ate lunch at a fun Italian restaurant near Fresh Produce. Forgot the name... Amisha or something like that!

Nassau

We took a ferry boat to Atlantis in the hopes of just walking around the hotel public areas. We were not allowed to even walk around the lobbies without an expensive day pass. We ate at Murray's deli which was even more expensive than NYC! As an example: $17.50 for an egg salad sandwich and some chips.
