My husband & I recently returned from the Delightful Danube river cruise aboard the River Princess- Uniworld. This was our first European River Cruise - all I have to say is that was undescribable! I know that doesn't help much, but it is hard to put into words how fantastic the crew, food, and ship was. Couldn't have asked for a nicer group of people to spend 10 days with. On our last night of entertainment, we were almost in tears saying goodbye to everyone. The food was excellent, (I personally loved the made to order Belgian waffles in the morning!) Buffet lunch was also good - many choices. Dinner was also excellent, the menu had enough choices to please everyone. And all desserts were scrumptious.

The tours that we chose were done very professionally, all guides were very knowledgeable about their countries. We especially enjoyed a bike tour where 29 of us were dropped off on shore with 4 guides and bikes for all of us. We then rode for several kilometers (I think 25) to meet our ship at the next port! Even watched our ship go through a set of locks from a bridge overhead!

Evening entertainment was great - one night the grand daughter of Maria Von trapp, another night a German "oompah" band as my husband calls them, and the last night a local singer/guitar player from Praque who was excellent. We got him to stay for at least 3 encores - he had everyone on their feet! The evening highlight was in Vienna where we had the option to go by bus for a private concert. That was amazing. We talked about that night for the whole trip.

Cabin Review

Standard Stateroom

Cabin 2

We booked the lease expensive cabin, meaning we had a window, but not able to open it. Our travel agent assured us it would be fine! and it was. Only in it to sleep. On the lowest level, but very quiet. One positive was that we were only 2 rooms away from the laundry room (which we could use for free). Don't know if I would have used it if it would have been far way, but decided to do a couple loads on our last day at sea. Very convenient - and no cost.

Port Reviews

Nuremberg

Nuremberg was very interesting. Seeing the huge stadium that Hitler spoke from was almost surreal. We did not tour any of the Jewish camps. Tried to keep it on a lighter note.
