We cruised on the brand new Opal on her third cruise. We selected Scenic because their Rhine/Mosel cruise is 14 nights and includes several ports other lines do not. Another reason was everything is included -- all tips, drinks, shore excursions with multiple excursion choices offered in each port.

The ship is gorgeous and incredibly "high tech." Most of the shore excursions were outstanding including ones to Zollverein coal mines, the Delta Water Works, the Arnheim Airborne Museum, and shopping with the chef. Scenic included several special events -- a cocktail reception and concert in the beautiful Rastatt Palace, cocktails at the Ehrenbretstein Fortress in Koblenz, and dinner at a choice of local restaurants near Veere. These were outstanding.

The service from our butler and cabin attendant was super. The service in the lounge and dinning room, not so great.

Cabin Review

Cabin Balcony suite

This cabin is the best designed riverboat cabin we have experienced. (This was our 8th river cruise). The outside wall is basically a glass enclosed sun room. Just press a button and the top lowers so you have an open air balcony. The bathroom was large with a big shower. We never heard any noise from the hall or the engines. Storage space was good and cleverly designed. The in cabin electronic system was "awesome." Just wish I had figured out how to use it sooner. In cabin internet reception was good when we were in port.
