This was our 6th cruise to Alaska and our 4th to Alaska from San Francisco. This was our first cruise aboard the Golden Princess, but we had sailed on her sister ship the Grand Princess in the last couple of years.

Embarkation at the new Pier 27 in San Francisco was a breeze. We were on the ship in about 15 minutes from the time our shuttle dropped us off. The new terminal is nice and the off-street parking is better than the older terminal. I think they could improve the area for shuttles, taxis and busses for more waiting area, but in general I applaud San Francisco for making this beautiful new terminal.

The two previous Golden Princess cruises and the one following our cruise were the recipients of unseasonably warm and sunny weather. We, on the other hand, had the luck of the draw wo get rain and windy days in ports. Our Glacier Viewing day to Glacier Bay wasn't so rainy, but gray and overcast. Despite the weather, this was one of the smoothest sailings we have ever been on. Outside of San Francisco can be rough seas, but not on this cruise. Super comfortable with rarely a wobble.

Cabin Review

Balcony

Cabin BF

Cabin located on the Lido deck. Easy access to the pools, movies under the stars and the buffet. Despite the kids clubs located above, it was very quiet. Room steward kept it clean and the location was not far from the elevator and stairs.

Port Reviews

Victoria

Victoria always seems to have excellent weather. Very busy port for watching boats, planes and helicopters. Check out Butchart Gardens or head down to the wharf.

Skagway

Skagway has some interesting places to visit. If you don't take the White Pass railway you can check out some fun shopping, saloon or candy (fudge) experiences.
