Tracy Arm fjord was incredible-spectacular close up proximity to shore-the captain did a great job getting around the small ice floes and trying to get us as close to Sawyer Glacier as possible without compromising safety. The nature guide narration was terrific, the sunny weather we had there, and also in Ketchikan, Juneau, Skagway, and Victoria couldn't not have been ordered better. Seattle is a great pre-cruise city as well.

The biggest disappointment on this cruise was often quality of food - I ordered veal in dining room and was a veal chop that was 90% fat. The New York strip steaks were thin and fatty as well. The 2 days we had breakfast in room there were items missing -one day it was the coffee -other day it was 2 fruit selections. The Oceanview staff was very accommodating- if a selection was dried out from sitting there they always offered to get something fresh.The small grill at the back of the Constellation makes that ship special with grilled to order items late afternoon and evening- it is a shame the larger ships don’t have that option, instead wasting all that space up on the 15th floor lawn space where the private cabanas and hammocks used to be ( obviously no one bought that option). The highlight musically was the June 3rd night of music in the atrium with the music floating up to the martini bar - it was music 95% of the ship's passenger's know and like, and you could see it. The other nights in the martini bar the loud techo beat type music often drove most passengers to quieter bars and took away the opportunity to have a nice time in that bar ( the Quasar bar and Molecular bar are already geared to young people - don't force the rest of us to go to the very dark and dreary Ensemble lounge where the music is good but atmosphere depressing ( lack of light coming in is awful ). Disappointing again was that pipe and cigar smoking takes up one side of the Sunset Bar and one side of pool deck for smokers - put them up away from everyone else somewhere - all airlines are non-smoking and most major hotels - you will gain customers if it is a smoke free ship. The bartender at the pool bar with the kind of fu Manchu beard was great as were the martini bar staff and the sky lounge staff was terrific. The oceanview bar and sunset bar were also nice. The breakfast staff in dining room were very accommodating-if a selection was dried out from sitting there they always offered to get something fresh.

The hot tubs were a big disappointment - there is very little depth and are small - they are also not as warm ( they are barely warm), as they are on Constellation, or deep - you constantly bump in to someone on the Solstice spas. The lack of the Thelassotherapy pool in the Atrium also a big disappointment. The internet service was worse than dial up speed often - on JetBlue their satellite internet service is about 20 times faster than the ship - if I hadn't purchased the unlimited package it would have cost me over $1000 to get my email. Royal Caribbean made the big announcement a while back that it would have very fast shipboard internet - suggest they pass that on to Celebrity quickly. The biggest joke is that the ship does not allow passengers to print out their airline tickets the day before without paying ( I already had unlimited service) - most major hotels have a webpage with the major airlines for customers to click on and print without paying. Evidently, according to the I-staff, routers were being changed all over the ship ,and for at least an hour there was no service - people were paying by the minute unable to connect and had no idea they could not ( you allow people to browse Celebrity for free - to not allow airline access is not acceptable ). The computers themselves are very old and slow adding to the interminable wait.

Cabin Review

Deluxe Veranda 2C

Cabin 2C

very nice cabin with a bit more space on the balcony as it juts out a bit - nice and quiet area of ship-TV's could use an upgrade to HD and tv selection is limited and sometimes duplicated ( TNT on 2 channels); shower was great ; bed and pillows very comfortable - cabin staff very attentive;

Port Reviews

Seattle

Highly recommend Maxwell Hotel for pre or post cruise in very nice St Anne's district -right next to beautiful Seattle Center and just far enough away from the city center. Nice safe neighborhood without hordes of homeless asking for handouts that you get downtown.

Ketchikan

Nice friendly town to walk around and browse - free bus shuttle from cruise docks if needed. Some good value in stores for gifts or a light jacket. Seaplane trips looked like fun but did not go this trip.

Juneau

Previously had taken helicopter tour on to Mendenahall Glacier and highly recommend that. Also the Liquid Alaska tour to the Alaskan Brewery was a great value and fun. The Mt Roberts Tramway also is a good trip to take.

Skagway

Previously had taken bus tour up in to Yukon / Carcross and White Pass Railway back which was a great trip. Friendly town-check out the old railway snowplow near the White Pass rail yard.

Victoria

Gorgeous small city-very clean- lovely downtown area with huge selection of nice restaurants and bars. The Irish Times on Government street is a great stop ! We walked in from the ship along the water and then around Beacon Hill Park which is fabulous on the way downtown. The Empress Hotel and waterfront are stunning. The downside is the ship was only in for 6 hours- an overnight stop would have been just great to allow more time-I would book a cruise that did that.
