I go on 4-6 cruises a year. Went in April and am going in June, so I ran out of people I would be willing to share a room with so I decided to go on this cruise by myself. Had room 10579. This cruise was fantastic. I signed up for the dining package so I ate in one of the specialty restaurants every night (so i can't comment on the regular dining room food). (After going to the cruise critic meeting, the spa and the friends of Bill W. meeting, I met a lot of people and didn’t have to dine by myself). The food in Cagney’s was magnificent – went there 4 times -- (can’t beat a filet mignon that you can cut with your fork or the Oreo cheesecake). Le Bistro was outstanding and the Japanese restaurant was so much fun. Every server was very attentive and extremely friendly.
My room steward was fantastic – he made sure I felt safe and welcomed. In fact, it was the weirdest thing. It was almost like the cruiseline had put my picture up and told all its employees to make me feel extremely welcome. Everyone (even people I didn’t know) were saying “hi Barbara.” Even when I signed up for the spa, the gentleman behind the desk looked up and said “you’re back!” – I had been on this ship one other time – in November -- but he remembered me!!! Only 3 things I think need to change or be improved: they should NOT charge a $7.95 service charge for room service, there is no lobster night, and the slot machines in the casino are very tight (didn’t see anyone win a jackpot). All in all, I thoroughly enjoyed this cruise and will go on Gem again.
I was in the room by myself and there was more than enough space for me including closet space and drawers.
