Our family of 4 booked two staterooms on the Silhouette, one with a balcony, one with a window view. Loved the balcony stateroom...the other seemed stuffy most of the time.

Service was terrific in the main dining room, and the cabin attendants were friendly and efficient. The ship was clean, appeared new, and we actually liked the retro decor in the Ocean View dining area.

We sailed in 2006 on the Galaxy in the Med....comparing this cruise to that one, well, sadly, this one falls short. If the Galaxy felt luxurious--and it did--this one seemed mediocre. The ship felt crowded on sea days, the entertainment was lame, and the Oceanview cafe was like an ant farm. Many of the passengers had poor manners, talking loudly in the library, cutting in line and pushing at the exit. The main dining menu tried too hard at creativity and not with success (but there were many choices), hawkers were all over the ship trying to sell this and that, the captain joked over the intercom, and well, it was a disappointment. We grew tired of being dinged for all of the extras. Murano dining was decent but probably not worth the $25 apiece. QZine was a bust....too long of a wait between the tiny servings that were more for show. Waiter quietly removed our condiment tray while we looked on, and gave it to another table. Sheesh.
