Excellent entertainment. Great dance show. Free self laundry and detergent!! This is unheard of... Kudos to Cunard. The food was consistentlt good and hot.Generous sized inside cabin 5171. Close to lifts and stair. Two deck below buffet. It has cabins above and below it. Great bed and pillows and excellent service. The Queen Mary has an excellent high tea. What you would expect. Excellent embarkation and debarkation.

The was a bit of a glut at the elevators so we took the stairs. The cabin was ready when we boarded. There are lots of public, well appointed spaces and lots of quiet nooks to read. Loved the layout of the ship. Great old style teak deck chairs with cushions. And lots of them too! The only drawback is the little, poorly ventilated gym, without access to a free public steam room/sauna. You had to pay to use one . Great service in the dining room. We are non- Grill clients and felt no class distinction what so ever. There are reserved areas for those who pay a much higher price for their cabin. If you want to spend your money that way, then go for it. We chose to travel Europe for 7 weeks instead.

Highly recommend Cunard and will sail with them again.

Port Reviews

Southampton

Lots to see in Southampton before the cruise. The central train station is close to the cruise ports. The cruise terminals are in the downtown area. There are many hotels in the area, we have stayed in both Novotel and the Holiday Inn.

New York (Manhattan)

Lots of taxis on hand. Took us 25 minutes and @$30.00 to get to our accommodations in Brooklyn. Most taxis have visa. It is very easy and safe using the subway to get to Manhattan or the Brooklyn Bridge. We subwayed for 3 days for $40.00 for two. Just make a plan and go.
