Myself my wife and three boys aged 6,12 and 14 sailed on the Getaway on May 16th. We stayed in a family oceanview cabin. I was a little worried that we would be on top of each other in the family cabin as we have always had two cabins on our previous cruises. This cruise was kids sail free so we had to have one cabin. But there was no need to worry, we really liked the cabin, especially the bathroom with the double sinks and bathtub.
We enjoyed having the first two days at sea, it gave us time to relax and check out the ship. We were told that there were between 600 and 700 kids on this cruise. With that many kids they really need to provide more seating around the kids pool area. The seating is limited to a wooden bench on one side of the pool. The kids pool has the kiddie area on one side and water slide on the other side of the pool.
We did find the ship to be very crowded at times especially around the pool areas, just didn`t seemed to be laid out that well. We sailed on the Carnival Breeze last year and never felt as crowded as we did on the Getaway.
We really liked this cabin, plenty of room for my wife, myself and three sons aged 6,12 and 14. We especially like the bathroom it had a double sink and a bathtub.
