Sail Date: May 2015
Cabin: Inside Stateroom

We sailed on the Getaway on May 2nd with 5 people; in 2 adjacent inside cabins. My wife and I sailed on The Getaway in September 2014 and had a great time so we wanted our children (23 and 20 years old) to go on the cruise with us. So, our 20 year old son stayed with us in one cabin and our 23 year old daughter and her boyfriend stayed in an adjacent inside cabin.

We live in South Florida so the family gathered here traveling on their own so we do not have anything to evaluate regarding local hotels or transfers to the port. I will say that parking is convenient but expensive so if you can get a ride to the port or are traveling in with a package; avoid the expense of parking at the port. If you have to though, it is very convenient.

Embarkation is pretty smooth. More difficult for us due to my having a “Hospital Birth Certificate” not a State issued one and no passport. HAVE A PASSPORT, it is easiest or at a minimum have a state issued birth certificate. My situation complicated the embarkation requiring several supervisors and approval from the ship but that is on me.

Cabin Review

Inside Stateroom

Cabin IB

Last time we had a Balcony on the 12th deck and it was great. Balcony is not large but was fine enough for us. This time, due to expense; we had Inside Cabins on the 12th deck and the cabin was fine! Although it is small, between the closet and space on either side of the bed and under the bed; the 3 of us were not cramped at all!

Remember to bring a credit card sized card to put in the slot to run the power in your cabin. If you just use your room key card when in the room that will work but when you leave and take the room key card out of the slot, the power goes off and if you are charging electronics you don’t get to charge them when out of the cabin. My Library card from home was in the slot from the moment we got in the cabin until we left!

Port Reviews

Nassau

I hate this port. Last time I tired quickly of the crappy shops and scummy people. The ship even publishes a warning to protect your valuables as there have been people mugged on the island. Don’t wear your expensive jewelry etc…. This time was OK as we just walked down the block to Senor Frog’s and had overpriced drinks and got !@#$-faced. Seriously, this is a wasted port in my opinion so make the best of it.
