This was our 4th cruise aboard the breakaway and there are some noticeable differences and not for the good. Let's start with the embarkation,we are lattatudes Gold members and as such we were supposed to get priority boarding, however even though we got to the terminal early we were given bording # 21 but people that came with us who were not even latitudes members same cabin category got # 5 we finally got on board and only because we knew where to go we got vibe passes, ( lucky we knew how the game is played) so then to our state room it was ok but not spotless. our cabin Stewart was less than friendly and it seemed like he didn't want to be there he made a poor attempt at make towel animals poor very poor! Captian Hoyt had just returned to the ship so we knew that we would be at home port early byt more on that later. Some of the Bar staff were exceptional as we have grown to expect but others just couldn't care less! And it showed! I have learned that many of the exceptional staff will be going to the new ship (the Escape) in October so replacement staff are filtering in. This includes the captain and Julie to the escape this is a good thing for the Breakaway! Julie is just kinda there but not really a great C/D ( we could be a bit biased because we have sailed with Sinan And Dan who both are fantastic ! Julie gave me the impression that it was all about her! The people at the shore excursion desk and the future cruise desk are top notch! The people at the main desk were friendly and compatent! The staff at the photo desk as well as the photographers were great! We did the UDP and all the preamum resturants get a 10 out of 10 all except tepinyacki this area needs to get its act together. We went there on a Wednesday evening we were seated with 2older couples who didn't really seem to be into the whole hibachi mind set ( fun laughter, and interaction with the chef) incedentally our chef Ryan P was awesome, while all other tables around us were singing and laughing we at our table in snooze mode! My wife and I tryed to liven things up the other two couples were shooting us dirty looks! ( hey it happenes ) so out wedding anniversary Was the following Friday so we decide to try to change our reservation from one place to the hibachi because it couldn't happen again right! So we go to the front desk and ask if we changed could we get Ryan's table again and the lady says no problem so we change and show up for our 9:15 reservation and the hostess says you are with Ryan correct and we say yes! We get seated with a young couple with 2small children 1of which is sleeping ( here we go again) to make it worse the hostess says oh Ryan was "pulled" to another party ! We were through ! The chef who came to us was good but he needed to tone it down because the child was asleep! We struggled through out meal and asked to speak to a supervisor one came to us and he just gave us lip service he said he would "look into it" and get back to us! He did not!

The ship was beautiful and we love Bermuda excursions were awesome.

Mid day on Saturday the Captian comes on the PA and says we will be arriving a bit early in NYC but it would not affect our plans for debarkation, we would be on the same schedule so at 03:30 am we are awakened by the ship shaking kinda like vibrating intensely we look out and we are in port! No explanation why we just were! So at 7:05 am Julie comes on the intercom ans says We have been cleared by customs and people who choose to do the easy walk off should proceed to deck 7 and leave the ship at this time! and the told the people that have the colored tags are welcome to go,have breakfast and wait for thier color to be called and leave at that time! The only reason we kept our reservation for this December is because Captian speedy and Julie won't be aboard! This was un acceptable! And I welcome NCL to contact us and discuss it further !
