My husband and I finally had an opportunity to take a European cruise and decided to take the Allure of the Seas, a ship we always wanted to cruise on.
We live in Florida so we flew from Miami to Barcelona on Air Portugal with a stopover in Portugal. The flight was okay but a bit long - Air Portugal took the edge off it by feeding us a few meals and giving us blankets and pillows. The layover in Portugal was 3 hours but we spent most of the time standing in lines and going through security. We arranged our flight and our transfer through Choice Air and it all went very smoothly. When we landed in Barcelona, we gathered our luggage and found the Royal Caribbean transfer people with signs outside of the baggage area. They were very pleasant and helpful - worth the price of paying for airport to cruise terminal transfers.
We love the ship "Allure of the Seas". Wow, what a way to see the Mediterranean. As a first timer to Europe, I found it quite convenient to be on a ship and go from port to port to take in the sights. I enjoyed the Allure but missed some of the classy venues with pianists for a nice cocktail on most of the RC ships. The food was good, the stateroom was adequate but lacking in storage, the entertainment was awesome.
The cabin was fine but a little smaller than most and very little storage. We had a great cabin steward and he was in and out of our room twice daily, keeping it spotless and bringing us fresh linens and ice. We enjoyed the outside balcony and got some great pictures as we went into each new port.
