Ok, So my adventure started off at the Pier in Seattle for the Norwegian Jewel 9 day round trip Alaskan cruise.

My husband and I arrived at the pier and the crowds were not to bad yet so we proceeded to drop off our luggage but they stopped my husband as his birth certificate was not valid. He could not board at all so we decided I would go and since we had 2 others on board to keep me company, he would fly back home and get a refund plus we would book an August cruise closer to our anniversary of 20 years.

Come to find out later he may have been able to get a passport that same day as anther lady did just that and I spoke with her on board but we were told it was highly unlikely so we did not even try. The people in that area need to be trained a little more I think so when this happens, they will know what to tell you and not just leave you sitting there.

Mid-Ship Balcony

Cabin BA

It turned out to be like a regular balcony on other ships with the exception of the bathroom which is really nice but the tub has a high side so if a person is disabled, that would probably hard to use. Sliding glass door to the balcony was easy to open and the views were wonderful from this deck 11 height. You can stand at the balcony and see your neighbors if they are standing there but it is pretty private. No smoking allowed but there were no signs and the neighbor was smoking a few times I went outside.

The bed was made up into a queen and I had asked for a mattress topper to be on there. It was not. I was able to sleep ok in any case without it. The top cover on the bed had a stain and was never changed out for a new one. I did not complain about it but I'm sure they would have done something. The bed skirt around the bottom was dirty like some one had dropped food/drinks and it splashed on it. There was clean towels always in the bathroom and shampoo and body wash in dispensers in the shower.

The coffee maker was hit or miss as to when I would have coffee to use with it. The steward sometimes left some and mostly did not.

The tv was a flat screen and I watched several good newer movies on the small screen. You could also see dining reservations available, shore excursion info, ships location map and shows they had in the auditorium broadcast throughout the day.

It was an good room but for the mini suite price I paid, I would go regular balcony next time. Just not worth the extra $$ to me but some may like that bathroom!
