My mother, my youngest son, and I went on the three night cruise and it was perfect for us. We have all cruised before (this was my 3rd NCL cruise and my mom's 5th, my son's first time on NCL but he has sailed on other lines). We did not honestly have high expectations after reading some of these reviews. Food was excellent and plentiful, crew was fantastic, stateroom was big enough and very comfortable (first time in inside cabin and we were surprised we really liked it). Room steward was one of the best I've ever had. Food in main dining rooms is at least as good as a nice hotel restaurant and we saw no need to pay surcharges for "better" food, as everything on the menu was well-presented and tasted delicious. I saw lots of bad reviews of the food previously, and had to wonder where these people eat, as I thought the food was great.
My mother and son loved the comedy show. Never a problem to get a deck chair and pool was rarely overcrowded. I frequented the spa and it was fantastic. If you cruise soon, ask to book with Robin, she is amazing.
Yes, the ship is older, but it is beautiful and kept very clean. There was always something to do and always some place to get food. I was disappointed to see the charge nearly 8 dollars for room service now, but easy enough to get food without ordering room service anytime. The ship was full but never felt overcrowded to me. I sailed with Royal Caribbean twice earlier this year, and it was fine, but I now remember why I love Freestyle so much. I like eating when I want and with the people I want, I also like not feeling compelled to dress up in formal wear if I don't want to. Makes for a much moe relaxing vacation for me.
Cabin furnishings show some wear but not bad at all. Roomy enough for 3, my son said the pullout sofa was very comfortable. The pullout is a bit tricky with getting to bathroom at night, but not really an issue. Comfy beds, spotlessly clean (Mario is an excellent cabin steward!). I was apprehensive about having an inside cabin as I have never sailed in one before, and it was cozy, quiet, and we all slept quite well. I would book an inside again, as it was an excellent price and we had everything we needed.
Miami is a fun city - we stayed the night before the cruise and two nights after to visit friends. foubd lots of lovely restaurants and enjoyed Miami as usual
Pretty island but spread out. BBQ provided was not great. Ocean was absolutely lovely to swim in but only with water shoes - very rocky and glad I brought the water shoes. Hard to find shade unless you rent clamshell or cabana, but wasn't too bad. Personally, I preferred Cococay on Royal Caribbean, but this island is nice, too. Needs hammocks!!
2nd time in Nassau and it is ok, but no excursions I really wanted to do. Did some shopping and braved the straw market, but couldn't take the constant badgering from vendors for long. They can get quite aggressive. Overall, Nassau is fine, but if it's included as a port on a future cruise, I will probably just stay on the ship for that port
