My daughters and I celebrated my birthday on the Norwegian Getaway going to the Caribbean. This was our very first cruise. I was most amazed at how they organize people so you never feel crowded. The only exception was the small crowded pool area with loud music and crowded seating. We stayed away from there. The ship was clean and new.

The staff was mostly putstanding. The shows were so so. Using your cell phone onbthe ship was very confusing and the guest service people were not too helpful. We had bought a verizon international program which was of no help on the ship. The ship wanted to sell us another expensive program. We were afraid to turn our phones on because we did not want to pay for all the E mails that come in. Our room was decorated for my BD and I was sent a bottle of champagne. Do not go with excursions through ship. They are pricey and you can get the same trip for cheaper. Watch your bills and charges, especially if you have the unlimited beverage program. That program includes tips so sometimes the waiter will charge you for more drinks than you ordered to get more tips. It is the best promo if you drink. We had a great time. Take a thermal cup so you can get water at the buffet. Buy a lanyard too so your cruise ID card is always handy. They sell them on board or bring one from home. Ask your steward to empty your mini frig.
