We took both a land and cruise trip to Alaska on the Star Princess. We flew to British Columbia Vancouver and our embarkment was delayed because of the Norvis virus affected a previous cruise so they were not disembarking folks until later. That would not have been an issue because we wanted a clean ship and understand the need to take extra precautions. My issue is that when they started embarking folks they forgot about the platinum members priority and it was a disaster no order and no preference.
Food - as with other cruise lines - if you want a good meal you can no longer expect it in either the buffet line (customized omelets were a joke, we had stuff in their we didn't ask for and they were tiny) or the Dining Room. The menu in dining room was limited and not very good. One would think the salad bar in the buffet would be extensive but many of the things I like were just not available - for example olives.
Services - We used the spa, having the actual treatments was good but they were always running 15 to 20 minutes late. For that kind of pricing they should be on time
Our cabin was good, we had a mini suite with plenty of space. I think the carpets were new and the bathroom was large enough. I just wish Princess would find a way to have the block dryer electrical unit in the bathroom and not in the middle of the cabin, others cant watch tv if you are putting on your makeup and blowing your hair dry, its a poor design.
We walked around and stopped for drinks near the cruise port because they could not let us embark until after 5:30. There were lots of shops and restaurants in the area.
