Sail Date: May 2015
Cabin: Balcony, sheltered

My husband and I (we are in our early 50’s) have just returned from our third and fourth transatlantic crossing on the QM2 (since 2013) and this is now our preferred way to travel from our home in the US to England where we have family.

The value for money, feeling of total relaxation and traveling in comfort whilst sailing on a true ocean liner, is just wonderful. Compare this to sitting in a tiny seat on a cramped jet, crowded airports, excess baggage fees – well, frankly there is no comparison.

Each time we have sailed we have run the numbers: and every time the return voyage or voyage/one way flight has worked out less expensive than a round trip flight from the east coast (lowest priced, non-stop, economy flight BA/United/Virgin). We book a sheltered balcony cabin using one of the large online agencies who always offer some OBC (takes care of gratuities, drinks, etc.). We also purchase a FCC onboard which gives an additional OBC (it is fully refundable for US passengers within 4 years).

Cabin Review

Balcony, sheltered

Cabin BD

Nicely appointed cabin (5089 & 5084) on Deck 5 very close to stairwell B - both have easy access to Royal Court Theater and the indoor pool on deck 12. We used the sheltered balcony almost every day. There is sufficient storage for 2 people but you do have to ask for hangars for the tall closet. We ordered breakfast every morning and it was always delivered at the time requested and accurate.
