Having cruised only a year ago on the Pacific Dawn, I was looking forward to a smorgasbord of yummy food and loads of entertainment. Unfortunately, it seems things have slipped somewhat! Most general entertainment was of RSL style (karaoke, trivia, bingo) with nothing through the day. Heck, on the last cruise there was laser shows, superb cirque style acts in the artrium, champaign glass towers, etc, etc. The evening shows themselves were reasonable but nothing too special - commendations though to the shows that were not performed by the P&O team ... very good! Food was classic smorgasboard in The Plantation and seemed similar to our last cruise. Particularly annoying though was the very deliberate absence of trays ... so you were left clutching cutlery and loading bread, dessert, juice and main course all on one plate.

What was not lacking was the additional activities that had an additional charge. These were promoted as daily activities in the program but playing laser tag, rock climbing or computer car racing were never my idea of what to do on a cruise...and certainly not to pay for it. Whilst staff remained friendly and professional, I was left feeling as though the cruise had gone from extravagant to stingy in less than 12 months and our family will look beyond the Pacific Dawn in future.
