for those of you considering a cruise with Fred Olsen, i can definately recommend it. I wasnt sure whether I would enjoy it or not - hence a mini cruise. The boat is not too big, but has plenty to do. The cabins are lovely and the one we stayed in had Lots of storage space and kept beautifully clean. We dined in the Grampian and waitors there were so welcoming. The food was lovely with plenty of choice and the service was extremely good - best we have ever had to be honest. We had lunch in the palm cafe restaurant which is self serve, and enjoyed food from mussels to roast leg of pork, with cinnamon rice pudding, bread and butter pudding and peach cobbler to enjoy for dessert. Breakfast had everything you would wish for,and the cakes at afternoon tea were fantastic, although we only tried this once as we werent hungry after the first day. We didnt sample the late night supper but i am sure that would have been as good as the other meals. We dont normally go to the evening entertainment, but the start time of 10.30 meant we were able to get a seat ln both evenings and enjoyed some singing and dancing from musicals for the first night and then a really funny comedian the second night. We wanted to stay up and the watch a tribute to the jersey boys, but were just too tired, as it didnt start until 11.45.

So if you are thinking of trying Fred Olsen - give it a go and I hope you enjoy it as much as we did.

Cabin Review

Superior Suite

Cabin was very spacious. There were 4 sets of hanging wardrobes with lots of hangers, and then 2 further wardrobes with 4 drawers in each. There were 2 bedside cabinets, and a dressing table type arrangement with shelves and more drawers. There was also a large mirror, well lit. There was tea and coffee making facilities, topped up daily, and a fridge and mini bar if you wanted to use it, the bathroom was fantastic. There was a separate toilet and 2 washbasins, there were 2 mirrorred cupboards with 3 shelves in each for all of your toiletries, and then a further 2 shelves under each washbasin. There were also plush towers and flannels, body wash, handwash and hand/ body lotion. There was a bath with a powerful shower over, and a pull out drying line if you wanted to rinse anything through. The bed was quite hard but very comfortable. We had a double bed but unusually 2 single duvets. There were 2 chairs and a settee, and a coffee table in the room as well. The balcony was huge with a table and 2 chairs and 2 sunloungers - unfortunately the weather wasnt warm enough to try these out. There was a thermostat in the room and it was always beautifully warm - and the water nice and hot.
