We drove to Galveston on Friday and set sail on Saturday. I highly recommend Faster to the Fun. (It sells out fast, but they open it back up for a few hours periodically and sell a few more passes for the months before you sail. You just have to check the Galveston excursions often and at all hours.)

We had 2 days at sea, Montego Bay, Grand Cayman, Cozumel, and 1 day at sea. We had an aft balcony and enjoyed the wide open view, but honestly, we were not in the room very much. (I will review room 7447 separately.) Our focus on this cruise was relaxation, so in Jamaica we spent the day at the Secrets Resort - beautiful beach and amenities. In Grand Cayman, we visited the Turtle Farm - would probably do something different in hindsight, but it was very interesting. Our most fun was in Cozumel where we did Salsa Salsa Margarita ---- so fun to learn to make margaritas and 6 types of salsas! We ate and drank our own creations - lots of fun!

The crew and staff of the Freedom are amazingly friendly and helpful. We also enjoyed the live shows and comedians. We selected Any Time Dining - because we didn't want to stop what we were doing to have to be in a dining room. That worked well for us, although most nights we ate on the Lido Deck. I will say that I wish there were more food choices later in the evenings.

Aft-View Extended Balcony

Cabin 8M

I looked for a review for this room before we left, so I am happy to provide one for you. I was surprised at the small size of the room. It seems most rooms are long and narrow, but this one is smaller. As I said before, we didn't spend much time there anyway, so it turned out to be just fine. There were 2 beds as one - comfortable pillows and bedding. There is no sofa - just one chair by a desk opening. The rest of the room has features like any other - 2 hanging closets (bring hangers as they provide some but not enough for me) and one closet that has 3 shelves. There is plenty of room for shoes. There are 3 or 4 small drawers by the desk for small clothing items. Your empty luggage will easily fit under the beds.

The bathroom is small - shower is small -- but they are the same as the other regular rooms.

The balcony is called an extended balcony. It does feel larger than the balcony on the side of the ship. In 7447, you are next to an 'aft wrap around balcony' - which gives you a great wide view but also a good view to the right side of the ship. There is not a strong breeze on the balcony, but I was always comfortable (except when the sun was shining hot). Because you see only what is on one side of the ship from a regular balcony, I really like the openness of the aft balcony and will do that again. I will likely try for the room with the wrap around balcony because their stateroom is much larger!
